Have you always wanted to be in a band but didn't know what to do or how to work with other musicians? Ever wanted to be on stage feeling the heat from the lights and the energy from the audience? Then this is the place for you. The Lapeer Music School of Rock offers a program for students who wish to learn to use their skills in a band. At the end of the course you will even get to perform live with your class (band).

What is the School of Rock?

It is a group of students that meet together with one of the music instructors to learn to play together in a band setting.

When do the band ensembles meet?

The band ensembles meet Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. One group per evening, depending on which group the student is in.

What will the students learn and do?

Each group of students will learn to play approximately three songs together that the school has choosen for the curricilum. They will work on these songs in their regular weekly lessons as well. At the end of the program, there will be a concert at which all three bands will perform their music.

Is it a competition?

No. The purpose of the School of Rock is simply to enjoy and learn the experience of playing music with others and performing before an audience.
